ACC Releases 11-Game Plan, Notre Dame Included

The 2020 college football season was always going to be historic due to the current pandemic we find ourselves in. We just got another reason for that on Wednesday as the ACC announced that Notre Dame will be included as a full conference member for the season to come. Each team, it was also announced, will play an 10-game slate against fellow conference members and will have just one nonconference game.

The latter strategy goes against what the Pac-12 and Big 10 have decided to do already, so that is very interesting to take note of. However, that nonconference game is being required to be against a team from within the same state as the school in question, limiting the options tremendously and basically making it a game that should be used to face a traditional rival. The ACC Title game will be either on December 12th or 19th, the date is not firm at this point, and the season will span over the course of 13 weeks with a couple of bye weeks thrown in. Notre Dame will be eligible to represent the conference should their record be good enough, just to clear up suggestions that this would be some type of ‘honorary’ inclusion. They were due to play six games against ACC schools previously, so this makes plenty of sense for all involved. The full schedule will be announced at a later date, according to the conference.
