Lions rookie defensive end Aidan Hutchinson finished 2021 by finishing second in Heisman Trophy voting and leading Michigan to its first College Football Playoff berth. He’s hoping to have a similar finish to 2022 after earning NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors in Week 11.
Hutchinson is just beginning to morph into the star the Lions hope he’ll become, but many fans are already familiar with him thanks to his appearances on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” during the summer.
Hutchinson and his family were featured often throughout the series. HBO shined a spotlight on talented parents who raised a hometown hero and have had impressive careers of their own.
Aidan Hutchinson family
Hutchinson’s father, Chris, got the family’s football legacy started with his own successful career at Michigan.
Chris Hutchinson was a two-time All-Big Ten selection as a defensive lineman and is tied for fourth in program history with 24 sacks. He recorded a then-school record 11 sacks in his senior season, a mark surpassed by LaMarr Woodley in 2006 and by his son last season.
A four-year starter at Michigan, Chris helped lead the Wolverines to a win in the 1993 Rose Bowl. He spent parts of three years in the NFL but never appeared in a regular-season game.
Not to be outdone, Aidan’s mother, Melissa, was Miss Michigan Teen USA in 1988. She is now a photographer and has served as a brand ambassador for a fashion company. She undoubtedly earned followers after her appearances on “Hard Knocks.”
Does Aidan Hutchinson have siblings?
Hutchinson has an older sister, Mia, and a younger sister, Aria. Both have followed in their mother’s footsteps.
Mia is a photographer, according to her Instagram, where she also lists herself as “Head of Social Media” for Aidan.
Aria, meanwhile, takes after both parents. She was Miss Michigan USA in 2022 and is pursuing a degree in neuroscience. Chris Hutchinson is an emergency room doctor.
All three Hutchinson children attended Michigan.
