Angels Rally, End Astros’ Winning Streak

The Houston Astros came into Monday night’s showdown with AL West rivals Los Angeles with a perfect 4-0 record. While no one expected them to continue for too much longer with it, they surely would have thought it would have been extended given the way proceedings began against the Angels. Up 3-0 after the top of the first and 4-0 after the top of the fourth, the Angels had to fight back. That fight started with Mike Trout hitting a solo homer.

The teams traded runs back and forth until the eighth inning when the dam burst open for the Angels. Shohei Ohtani came off the bench to score the go-ahead run in a crazy, four-run inning that put them up 7-5 and also included an Anthony Rendon sac fly. A late homer in the ninth wasn’t enough for the Astros to win, and it meant that both teams are now at 4-1 through five games thanks to the Angels’ 7-6 win. Could this finally be the year that Trout gets to make a playoff push to show off his greatness? We shall see, but early indications do look very good.
