Baby Born With Rare “Snow-White” Patch Of Hair, But Wait Until You See Her Mom
Prepare to see the most adorable birthmark ever. South Carolina toddler, MilliAnna Worthy was born with a shock of white hair at the front of her hairline. What’s better? Her mother, Brianna, has the same unique look. Actually, so does her mother, Jennifer, and her mother after that, Jaonne, adding up to 4 generations of women who share the gorgeous signature patch of white locks from birth.
MilliAnna’s hair is the result of poliosis, a lack of pigment in hair and skin that results in a stark white color. Her poliosis is hereditary, but the condition can also have extra-genetic causes such as an autoimmune response at the base of the hair or hair follicle damage. There have even been some cases of people developing poliosis from radiation treatment or a bout of shingles.
When asked about her reaction to her daughter’s birthmark, Brianna told the Daily Mail, “I was hoping she did have it. My younger sister that my mother had a few years after me didn’t get it, so I didn’t know if MilliAnna was going to, but once I had her and they laid her on my chest and I saw she had it I was so happy.”
She goes on to admit that her own experiences growing up with the white patch of hair weren’t always easy. “I had several names such as skunk that kids would try to insult me with as a child. Sometimes it would bother me when I was younger, but I grew to end up really loving it in my hair and was confident that it was my own unique signature look.”
Luckily, Brianne is happy to share her features with MilliAnna. “I plan to raise my daughter knowing she is beautiful and special and to not listen to people mean comments at times.”
