Robert Lewandowski scored from the penalty spot to give them a 0-1 lead at the half. They would be solid throughout, finally getting the second goal via Benjamin Pavard with ten minutes to go in regulation. As such, Bayern are now four points (again) clear of Dortmund and are a further two ahead of Monchengladbach in the table. In the other match of the day, Cologne raced out to a 2-0 lead at home only to squandered it in the second half to Mainz, seeing the game end all square at two apiece.
