Beyoncé’s new Netflix documentary, Homecoming, gives fans an inside look into the singer’s journey towards becoming the first black woman to headline Coachella.

In it, she details her lust for success and explains the hurdles she had to overcome to get to the top.

One of the most shocking reveals in the project — which is part documentary, part concert, and part film — is that Queen Bey had to suffer through a dangerous and difficult pregnancy, all while preparing for the biggest performance of her life.

As RadarOnline.com has learned, Beyoncé, 37, was originally set to headline the music festival in 2017, but had to cancel due to the fact that she got suddenly pregnant with twins Rumi and Sir by husband Jay-Z. While she was ecstatic to be able to expand her family, the babies’ births did not come easy, in fact, the pop diva almost lost her life.

“My body went through more than I knew it could,” Beyoncé admits.

By the time she gave birth, she was 218 pounds and had suffered from high blood pressure, toxemia, and preeclampsia. Making the experience even more terrifying, one of the twins‘ heartbeats “paused a few times,” according to the documentary, all which forced Beyoncé to have an emergency C-section.

The twins are now healthy and so is she, but in 2018 when the star was finally able to headline Coachella, she still struggled to perform her mommy duties between sets backstage.

“It was a lot to juggle,” says Beyoncé. “It’s not like before when I could rehearse 15 hours straight. I have children, I have a husband. I have to take care of my body.”

Between sets, she would rush backstage to breastfeed her babies, and while she wanted her soul to be all in to the performance, she just wanted to be a mom.

“In the beginning, there were so many muscle spasms and just internally, my body was not connected. My mind was not there. My mind wanted to be with my children,” she continued. “What people don’t see is the sacrifice.”

Beyoncé worked hard to get back into top shape for the concert after her pregnancy, and some days, she just wanted to quit.

“There were days when I felt like my endurance and physicality would never be the same,” she said.

At 115 days before the show, she decided “I had to rebuild my body” and by day 65 she made herself follow a diet of no bread, carbs, sugar, dairy, meat, fish or alcohol. “And I’m hungry,” she shouted in the clip.

On day 38, she fit back into her costume.
