It had been reported to be happening over the last couple of days, and Tuesday morning saw it confirmed. Both the Big Ten, who decided to make the call first, and then the Pac-12 have opted to forgo the fall sports seasons. This comes despite pleas from various players, coaches, fans, and other interested voices that asked for the season to go ahead as planned.
The two conferences being in step with one another is no real surprise, seeing as how they have a long history of working together. Even with the postponement (both hope to play in the spring), it looks like Nebraska is going to try to play. We’ll see how that turns out. Other conferences, such as the Big 12, SEC, and ACC plan on forging forward for now, but as always, plans are subject to change.
