It is a strange enough time in baseball, and it’s only stranger due to the fact that we have these seven-inning doubleheaders to make up games missed. At any rate, the Toronto Blue Jays took full advantage of it on Thursday as they won both games against the Philadelphia Phillies. In the first game, they came back from a 2-0 hole early to win 2-3. Luis Gurriel, Jr. was the hero with a walk-off single in the seventh inning.
In the second outing of the day, the Blue Jays were forced to rally again in order to win 9-8 over the visitors. The Phillies led by seven runs after the first inning, but the Jays had no plans on giving up. They would plate seven runs in the sixth inning to take a 9-7 lead into the final frame, and they would hold onto it in the end. Gurriel, Jr. once again was a hero in this rally, hitting a home run to get them to within a run of the lead. They are now 12-11 while the Phillies are 9-12.
