Briscoe Wins Busch Battle At Darlington

Denny Hamlin climbed out of his car with a smiling face mask on Wednesday when he was declared the winner of the Cup race at Darlington. Chase Briscoe, however, would not be sporting the same sort of behavior, even after holding off Kyle Busch, the most dominant driver in the history of the Xfinity Series on Thursday evening. Briscoe got the victory, but it was only a little bit of solace for him and his family as they had found out they lost their child on Tuesday in a 12-week checkup.

Climbing out of the car, he was as emotional as you would believe. The finish was simply spectacular. Busch, who had came from the rear with 35 laps to go due to speeding on pit road, had somehow clawed his way back to the front. He restarted third with just a handful of laps left and quickly got to second. He would, of course, close in on Briscoe, prompting a fine duel between them. Briscoe pounded the wall hard a few times, but ultimately he managed to hang on to, and he would see the checkered flag first, just .086 seconds ahead of the veteran. It was the series’ first race back since March, and it had been delayed two days from its scheduled date. It was a raving success, we’d say.
