An American woman took to TikTok to ask users for advice after noticing a “major flaw” with her kettle that saw it spraying boiling water – and people are in hysterics
If there’s one thing British people are passionate about, it’s a good cup of tea.
But an American woman has left Brits horrified as she demonstrated how she made a cuppa.
The woman took to TikTok, where she’s known as @happygoliving, to vent about a “major flaw” with her kettle, in a video that has since has been viewed more than four million times.
“I have this amazing electric kettle, as you can see it’s filled up to the waterline, but it has a major flaw when I’m making my tea. Let me see if you can notice the major flaw that it has,” she’s heard saying.
As the kettle starts to boil, she says: “It might be hard to notice, but here it comes. Oh yeah.”
At that point, boiling water shoots out of the spout of the kettle.
“So, why would they make it like this? What is the purpose? Yeah, you better turn yourself off. Water everywhere,” she moaned.
Since being posted, the video has racked up more than 570,000 likes and 10,000 comments from viewers in hysterics.
One person said: “Americans get a kettle and this is what they do.”
Another wrote: “I can notice the MAJOR FLAW: you don’t know how to use it,” adding laughing emojis for good measure.
A third exclaimed: “WHY DID YOU PUT TEA IN THE KETTLE.”
Whilst someone else explained: “It’s only [meant] to boil water not tea, then you put the teabag in the mug.”
In another video, the woman revealed she finally managed to get the kettle working after taking out the tea infuser.
“Everybody said to boil the water without the tea thing in it. But why do they give you this tea thing?” she vented. “What is the purpose of the tea thing?”
Testing it out, she said: “Alright I’m boiling it, let’s still see if we’ve got the problem. It seems to be self-contained…”
“Then don’t put this in the box,” she fumed waving around the tea infuser, adding: “Alright, it works now.”
Once again Brits flooded the comment section, but with some handy advice as many said that the tea infuser holds the teabag once the water is boiled, which turns the kettle into a teapot.
