It’s been a long time coming, and there are, reportedly, still a few hurdles to clear, but it looks like the Cleveland Browns and Myles Garrett are close to extending his deal with the team. The deal, said to be worth up to $125 million over the span of five years, is going to make the defensive tackle the highest-paid defensive player in the game.

$100 million is ‘guaranteed,’ while half of that will be given to him at the time of signing. Until the next deal kicks in, he’ll continue to make $19.8 million via the deal that he signed as a rookie. He was, of course, the #1 pick in the 2017 Draft and comes off a season in which he produced 29 tackles, 10 of which were sacks, as well as forcing two fumbles in just ten games. He was then suspended for hitting Mason Rudolph with his helmet, but he’s since been reinstated.
