The NBA Playoffs got back underway on Saturday with three opening-round Game 5’s. In two of them, the top seeds were able to punch their tickets to the second round and in the other the Houston Rockets took a big step toward doing the same. The Milwaukee Bucks, the top seed in the East, got a comfortable 118-104 win to win four consecutive after their shock loss in Game 1. Giannis had a monster game, finishing with 28 points and 17 rebounds.
The same could be said of Anthony Davis for the Los Angeles Lakers as they got past a Damian Lillard-less Portland Trail Blazers team by a score of 131-122. He had 43 points to lead all scorers on the evening, outdoing CJ McCollum’s 36 as the Blazers valiantly fought to remain alive against all odds. LeBron James had a triple-double, scoring 36 points and grabbing 10 boards and 10 assists. In the other match up, the Oklahoma City Thunder laid an absolute egg as they lost 114-80 to the Rockets. Yes, you read that correctly; they scored 80 points. James Harden had 31 as they cruised to the win, and Russell Westbrook returned. They now need one win from two to advance.
