The third edition of the College Football Playoff rankings were released on Tuesday, and much of it is a case of ‘as you were’ toward the top. It looks familiar to last week’s offering, with the top seven (Alabama, Notre Dame, Clemson, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Florida, and Cincinnati) all remaining in their respective places.
In fact, only one team, Northwestern, fell out of the top ten from last week, and that was due to their loss to Michigan State dropping them to #14, representing the biggest drop apart from Oregon, who went from 15 to 23. There was some debate, apparently, about putting Texas A&M, who have one loss, in front of Ohio State, who has only played four games, but at the moment the Buckeyes have enough to be in front. BYU moved up one spot to #13 despite its 9-0 record, while fellow unbeaten Coastal Carolina are now at #18, having jumped up two places.
