Thursday Night NFL games are rarely the prettiest of affairs. The games are hard enough on a regular week, but they are turned up a notch on short notice. That was again the case this week as the Indianapolis Colts battled the Tennessee Titans. It was particularly difficult for the Titans despite taking a 17-13 lead into the halftime break. Coming out of the interval, they wouldn’t score a point more as the Colts dominated the second half to secure a 34-17 win.
Philip Rivers as his usual assured self, throwing for over 300 yards and one touchdown on a quiet but solid night. The special teams area was also where the Colts took advantage of the Titans, scoring on a blocked punt to extend their lead to 10 in the third quarter. From there, it was always going to be tough for the Titans to come back. With the win, the Colts leapfrogged the Titans in the division due to the tiebreaker rule. Both teams are at 6-3 now, though the Colts are in much better ‘form’ of late with three wins from their last four. The Titans, meanwhile, have lost three of their last four, so things have gone sour for them quite quickly and now is the perfect time for them to have an extended break to try and turn the ship back around.
