The Houston Astros knew that they had a lot of work to do in order to climb out of a 3-0 hole in their ALCS match up with the Tampa Bay Rays. After Thursday night’s heroics from Carlos Correa, however, they are two steps of the way toward a comeback. Their 4-3 win was about more than just Correa, but he will be the man remembered for a long time with his dazzling home run in the bottom of the ninth that walked it off in San Diego, ensuring that the Astros lived yet another day.

Joey Springer gave them the 1-0 lead early with a first-inning homer only to see Brandon Lowe tie it up by doing the same two innings later. The Astros then went up 3-1 via Michael Brantley’s single. It all felt like a case of “here we go again,” though when Randy Arozarena hit his sixth home run of the postseason to reduce the edge to 3-2. Ji-Man Choi completed the comeback for the Rays in the eighth with a home run of his own, but Correa had the final laugh, sending the ball flying over the center field wall and forcing a Game 6 on Friday.
