The Chicago Cubs have started out this strange 2020 season well so far, and they added a bit of history to the mix on Monday night as they eased to a 9-3 in Detroit over the Tigers. The win was the franchise’s 11,000th overall, making them just the second to reach that milestone. It was accomplished, in large part, thanks to Javier Baez. He grabbed the headlines thanks to smashing two home runs in the game.
Though he’ll get the majority of the praise, David Bote is also due for acknowledgment. The third baseman, who is hitting a ridiculous .600 at the moment, had a home run and went 3-5 with four RBIs. The Cubs are now at 18-10, while the Tigers are at 11-16 and hoping to get something going as we turn the corner toward the stretch run.
