Derby DQ Upheld
Controversy surrounded the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, ultimately being decided by stewards. However, those questions were taken a step further as the owners of the aggrieved party, Maximum Security, lodged an appeal that was then summarily dismissed.
The decision will not be overturned, meaning that Country House, a 65-1 longshot, remains the winner and will go down as the first horse to win via a decision by the officials. As a result, Maximum Security will not be running the Preakness, which is the second of the Triple Crown races, as a form of protest.
