Owning a dog is expensive – especially when they run up a monthly bill at the groomers. A dog groomer has left people in hysterics after installing a sign in her salon explaining why owners end up paying more for their dog’s groom than having their own hair cut.

Revealing the number one reason, her sign states: “The likelihood of you pooping on the hairdresser is pretty slim.” While this should be enough to get her point across, the sign continues to reel off nine more reasons, which have all been deemed “more than justifiable” by Reddit users.

The full sign reads: “Top ten reasons why it costs more to get your pet groomed than your own hair cut.

“10. Your hairdresser doesn’t wash and clean your rear end.

“9. You don’t go eight weeks without washing or brushing your hair.

“8. Your hairdresser doesn’t give you a sanitary trim.

“7. Your hairdresser doesn’t clean your ears.

“6. Your hairdresser doesn’t remove the boogies from your eyes.

“5. You sit still for your hairdresser.

“4. Your haircut doesn’t include a manicure or pedicure.

“3. Your hairdresser only washes and cuts the hair on your head.

“2. You don’t bite or scratch your hairdresser.

While most users couldn’t help but laugh at her cheeky sign, others shared their thoughts on her 10 rules and what things would be like if customers broke them.

One user said: “It says ‘The likelihood of you pooping on your hairdresser is slim’. The use of the word slim is a bit concerning. You should probably be never do this.”

Another user added: “I would pay anything to get my dog properly washed and groomed. I tried it myself and it is chaos.”

A third user added: “Love this sign. I just took my pup for a doggy spa day to get all these services mentioned and it was totally worth it.”

It comes after a dog owner came face-to-face with her mistake when collecting her cockapoo, Sooty, from the groomers, and seeing his body coat had been completely shaven off.

Owner Anne Fox, from Ormskirk, Lancashire, told The Mirror: “My dog got scalped once. When I went to the groomers to pick him up, I was met at the door with his full body coat, hence why I brush him now.”

At first she was taken back by the mass of fur in front of her, but has vowed to increase how often she brushes him to prevent it from happening again.

“It did grow back. He gets brushed a bit more now,” she added.
