With a 3-0 lead in Game 3 of their qualifier series against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday, it looked like the Toronto Maple Leafs had matters well in hand. They would be taking a 2-1 lead in the series, and would just need one more in the next to in order to move on. That’s when things took an abrupt turn. The Blue Jackets refused to quit, led by the brilliance of Pierre-Luc Dubois.
He scored three goals to record a hat trick, including the winner in overtime. It’s always a huge win in Game 3 of any series that is tied up at 1-1, but this one feels even bigger and more important. The momentum is certainly in Columbus’ corner, and it will be hard to see them going out at this point.
