Kevin Durant is on his own at the moment for the Brooklyn Nets, as far as superstars anyway, but it didn’t hold him or his team back too much on Tuesday night as they took down the Denver Nuggets 122-116 to get themselves back to .500 on the season. Durant scored 34 points and had 13 assists and missed a triple-double by a single rebound as he outplayed fellow superstar Nikola Jokic on the evening. Jokic had 23 points and 11 assists and was only two rebounds shy of his own triple-double, a regularity of sorts for him that has become expected.

The Nets, behind the work of Durant and Bruce Bowen’s season-high 16 points, were forced to work their way back into from an 18-point deficit at one stage. Bowen had scored the tying and go-ahead buckets, while Durant scored the six points after to create the separation and ultimately give the Nets the win. Overall, they outscored their visitors 68-46 over the closing two quarters, showing their dominance when it mattered the most. The Nuggets fell to 5-6 with the loss and gave up the chance to claw, or crawl, their way to .500 for the first time in the new season.
