Eagles Stay Alive, Packers In NFC Control

The NFC, much like the AFC, still has a lot of moving pieces about it currently, and that made Sunday (and promises to make the next few Sundays) very interesting. The Philadelphia Eagles got the conference’s headline win on the day, with rookie QB Jalen Hurts winning his first start over the New Orleans Saints by a score of 24-21.

It was definitely an upset in the truest sense, with few expecting much from the previously 4-7-1 Eagles. Hurts was phenomenal, rushing for 106 yards and throwing for 167 yards (and a TD) as they remained alive to win the NFC East. They still will have to hope Washington loses, of course, but the win keeps them in with a chance. It also meant that the Green Bay Packers are now in control of their own destiny in the race for the conference’s top seed. The Packers won 31-24 over the woeful Detroit Lions on Sunday to improve to 10-3. That handed them the NFC North crown, via three touchdown throws and a scamper from Aaron Rodgers no less, and it means that they are now three wins away from earning a bye for the playoffs.
