Early Homers Key Mets Win Over Red Sox

The New York Mets made their way to Boston to take on the Red Sox on Monday night, hoping to even up their record at 2-2, just like their hosts. After a rough outing on Sunday, they quickly turned things around, bashing the Red Sox early on to establish a big 7-0 lead after four innings via the long ball.

Bleacher Report

Michael Conforto went yard for two in the second, Pete Alonso had a two-run bomb in the third, and Dominic Smith joined the party with a three-run blast in the fourth. That, effectively, sealed the win despite an attempted Red Sox comeback in the later innings. That was led by shortstop Xander Bogaerts, who had a sac fly and a home run in successive innings. However, they only scraped four runs across the plate, leading to a 7-4 loss and a dropping of their record to 1-3 on the season thus far.
