Experienced crew member, Maia Medena revealed the sad tale on Quora. Responding to a question asking flight attendants about interactions with passengers, she wrote: “A mother was travelling with her two daughters.

“One was around 6 years old, a beautiful blue-eyed princess with golden long wavy hair.

“The younger was about 4 or 5, looking like a mini copy of her sister, just as beautiful, but with shorter hair. She was wearing nothing as impressive as her big sister, just leggings and a shirt.

“Mid-flight we had a medical emergency. It was the little sister, she had seizures. She was shaking uncontrollably on the galley floor, foaming from her mouth, with her mother talking to her calmly and holding her as much as she could.”

Her post continued: “The cabin senior took control of the situation, while I went to the older sister, who was sitting in the crew seat a meter away from the scene, with tears streaming down her cheeks, looking like her whole world is crashing down. I could literally feel her sorrow in the air.

“I talked to her and told her things will be OK, and she said her sister often has seizures.

“‘I know this is difficult for her, for your mom, and for you. But you have to be strong, for your little sister. I can see you love her so much, she is lucky to have you, princess,’ I said.

“She looked at me with the teary eyes and asked: ‘But what if I won’t always be there for her?'”

The flight attendant added: “… and that was the most difficult question I was ever asked in my aviation career. I composed myself after a few moments of silence, hoping my answer would give her some comfort.

“‘Then her angels will guard her, princess, until you see her again’, I gently said, gave her a hug and let her cry in my arms until she got the courage to be strong again.

“Moments like these teach us to appreciate things we often take for granted — the most important thing one can have in life, is good health.”

The worker also confirmed the young girl and her family got off the flight safely.

Replying to concerned commenters, she said: “Yes she was alright after the seizures have ended. She had another episode about two hours later. This was back in 2012. The mother said seizures are an everyday thing for them. It was very sad.”

And she sent her best wishes to the family, whose story has stuck with her for so many years.
