College basketball is well and truly rolling now. It’s early days, but there were some very notable match ups that took place on Wednesday night. Leading the charge was a game pitting #2 Baylor against #5 Illinois. That one ended up going the way of the Bears, with strong defense taking them to an 82-69 victory over the Fighting Illini.

Elsewhere, the Gonzaga Bulldogs were forced to rally but ultimately came up trumps over West Virginia by a score of 87-82. The #1 team in the nation got 21 points from Joel Ayayi, tying his career-high, in the win over the #11 Mountaineers. Texas ranked #17, also got a win over a ranked foe as they took down #14 North Carolina 69-67 to win the ‘Maui Invitational.’ Matt Coleman III was the hero, scoring the final two of his 22 points with 0.1 seconds remaining to give them a thrilling win over the Tar Heels.
