Harden Scores 44 In Loss, Spurs Down Raptors

It’s a little unfair to say that none of the ‘good’ teams played on Saturday in the NBA, but let’s just say that most of the bigger teams- with the bigger names- didn’t play on Christmas this year. That left some of the leftovers and a couple of possible contenders to play on Saturday. One of those was the Houston Rockets, of which were playing for the first time in the new season. James Harden was cleared to play, even if four others weren’t, and his individual performance did not disappoint as he scored 44 against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The problem, however, is that they fell short in the end by a 128-126 score, with CJ McCollum also scoring 44, three of which came in OT with 6.3 seconds left to seal it. To make it even more interesting, Harden is said to be considering a move to Portland as well. In another game of note, the San Antonio Spurs went to 2-0 early in the year with a 119-114 win over the 0-2 Toronto Raptors. The Spurs had been down by four going into the last minute and change, but DeMar DeRozan, who had 27 total, led them to win against his former team in dramatic fashion.
