Heat Eliminate Bucks, Lakers Take 2-1 Edge Over Rockets

It is officially official, as the kids say nowadays. The top-seeded team in the NBA Playoffs, the Milwaukee Bucks are eliminated in the second round. The Miami Heat confirmed that on Tuesday night in Game 5 of their series, as they defeated them without reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo by a score of 103-94. The Bucks, of course, had held on and forced an extra game last time out having fallen behind 3-0 in the series, but they could not manage to squeeze out another here.

The Heat were not spectacular here, and they didn’t have to be, with Jimmy Butler leading the scoring charge with just 17. Khris Middleton had 23 for the hapless Bucks who will have to try again next year. In the other game of the night, LeBron James made history by becoming the winningest player of all-time in the playoffs as he helped the Los Angeles Lakers to a 112-102 win over the Houston Rockets that puts them up 2-1 in the series. James had a massive night, scoring 36 points to lead all scorers, but he wasn’t the only one at the races here. Anthony Davis added 26 points of his own, and Rajon Rondo played some of the best basketball he has played in a long, long time down the stretch. He totaled up nine assists in the winning effort. James Harden had a big night in defeat, scoring 33 despite missing over half of his shots from the field.
