After lots of conjecture and uncertainty, the Tennessee Titans and Derrick Henry pushed through a deal at the last second on Wednesday. The sides came to an agreement to extend the running back’s current deal, and it’s said to be for four years and up to $50 million. Sources are indicating that half of it will be fully guaranteed.
Henry, for all intents and purposes, is the premier back in the league, though the way he plays is so rough and vicious that you know that one injury is likely to end his career as the best in the NFL. Still yet, the deal is not the one we all imagined. Many figured it would blow the top running backs out of the water, but instead both sides have compromised a bit on it. It’s clear both wanted to continue to work together, and it’s easy to see why. Henry is imperative to their success, and any chance of getting to a Super Bowl will surely come through him.
