Huddersfield Town vs. Nottingham Forest time, TV channel, stream, betting odds for Championship playoff final

The 2021-22 Championship playoff final gives Huddersfield the chance to return to the Premier League after three seasons away and Nottingham Forest an opportunity to reach the top flight for the first time since 1999.

Both sides performed impressively over the course of the season, even threatening to derail the automatic promotion hopes of Bournemouth, who secured second behind runaway champions Fulham.

Huddersfield took third place with a run of five wins from their final six matches during the regular season to make the Terriers the in-form team in the division, while Forest were nearer the foot of the table as recently as December during a surge up the standings.

A 2-1 victory over Luton that was as hard-earned as the scoreline over the two legs suggests sealed Huddersfield’s Championship playoff semi-final victory. Forest’s path was even tenser, edging out Sheffield United on penalties.

Huddersfield Town vs. Nottingham Forest predicted lineups

Goalkeeper Ryan Schofield (shoulder), midfielder Alex Vallejo (knee) and winger Rolando Aarons (knee) may not be fit to return for Town after missing the semifinals.

Wing-back or midfielder Ollie Turton was replaced by Pipa after picking up a knock during the first leg of the semifinal with Luton.

Huddersfield Town predicted lineup (3-5-2): Nicholls (GK) – Lees, Hogg, Colwill – Pipa, Holmes, Russell, O’Brien, Toffolo – Sinani, Ward

Striker Lewis Grabban (hamstring) and defender Max Lowe (groin) are out until the end of the season for Steve Cooper’s side, who appeared to emerge without lasting damage from their draining win on penalties over Sheffield United.

On-loan Aston Villa forward Keinan Davis recovered from a hamstring injury to briefly feature in the first leg of the tie and emerge from the bench for the final 45 minutes of the second leg.

Nottingham Forest predicted lineup (3-4-1-2): Samba (GK) – Worrall, Cook, McKenna – Spence, Yates, Garner, Colback – Zinckernagel – Johnson, Surridge

Huddersfield Town vs. Nottingham Forest betting odds

Forest were bottom of the Championship when manager Cooper took over in September, and their short odds for the final reflect their status as the team to have picked up the most points in the second tier since then. Had Cooper been appointed sooner, the sleeping giants might well have gone up automatically.

Value betters may well be enticed by Huddersfield, whose manager, Carlos Corberan, is a master at setting his side up tactically to nullify their opponents.

Town’s unbeaten run of nine matches dates back to March and includes seven wins along the way.
