Hurricanes Sweep Rangers, Make NHL Playoffs

The Carolina Hurricanes are officially headed to the NHL Playoffs following their victory in Game 3 of their play-in series with the New York Rangers on Tuesday. The 4-1 win means they swept the best-of-five series, and they did so in very dominant fashion having outscored their opponents 11-4 overall.

That comes as no surprise, really, as the Rangers were the 11th best team in the conference coming into the qualifiers. They did start well, with Chris Krieder scoring to give them a 1-0 lead in the second period. However, they were unable to hold on to that lead, as Teuvo Tegravainen leveled matters within just three minutes. Sebastian Aho added two goals as well to help them. It’s not all awful news for the Rangers, as they will have a 12.5% chance of winning the first pick in the next NHL Draft.
