Playing at Kinnick Field has always been a difficult task for opponents, especially if they are a top ranked team.

This did not change yesterday as the Iowa Hawkeyes absolutely dismantled No. 3 Ohio State 55-24 in a game that had huge College Football Playoff implications.

Ohio State, coming off a win over Penn State that paved a clear road to the College Football Playoff, completely threw away any chance they had coming into this game to remain in the top four for the remainder of the season.

The difference maker in this game was the second quarter as they Hawkeyes put up 21 points in comparison to a lone touchdown from the Buckeyes. This gave the Hawkeyes a comfortable 31-17 lead heading into the half which they would not give up for the duration.

The Hawkeyes went on to dominate the second half, scoring 24 points while limiting the Buckeyes to only 7.

Iowa quarterback Nathan Stanley spearheaded the offensive attack for the Hawkeyes, totalling five touchdowns on 21-30 passing for 226 yards.

The best play of the game, however, did not come on the offensive side of the ball for the Hawkeyes. Instead, it was Hawkeyes cornerback Joshua Jackson who may have made the interception of the year.

This loss knocks Ohio State out of college football playoff contention. Big Ten rival Penn State likely would have taken their spot if they were able to win on the road at Michigan State. They, however, lost on a last second field goal which also likely knocked them out of playoff contention.

Yesterday absolutely blew open the college football playoff rankings. Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame, Clemson and Wisconsin all won while Penn State and Ohio State dropped out of the conversation.

Last week, people were talking about possible having two teams in the College Football Playoff from the Big Ten. This week, it looks like they may not even have one representative.
