The New York Islanders got their second round playoff series off to the best start possible on Monday, smashing the Philadelphia Flyers 4-0 to take a 1-0 lead. An early Andy Greene goal put them up 1-0, and they would finally add to it with three goals in the space of 10 minutes in the third period.
In the other game of the day, the Dallas Stars took firm command of their series against the Colorado Avalanche, winning 5-2 to take a 2-0 series lead. Two power play goals had the Avs up 2-0, but four second-period goals for the Stars turned the game on its head. Alexander Radulov had a goal and an assist in that flurry, and it now places a ton of pressure upon Colorado to respond in Game 3.
