Jimmy Garoppolo injury update: 49ers QB out for season after suffering broken foot vs. Dolphins

Garoppolo has had his fair share of injuries while 49ers quarterback, and Week 13 unfortunately resulted in the latest for the passer. 

In the first quarter of the 49ers-Dolphins matchup, Garoppolo was injured after a Miami defender landed on Garoppolo’s foot/ankle area. After heading into the medical tent, Garoppolo would be carted to the locker room.

Unfortunately for Garoppolo, that injury will keep him out for the long haul.

In his stead, Brock Purdy (2022 NFL Draft Mr. Irrelevant) would throw a touchdown pass to keep pace with the high-octane Dolphins.

Following the 49ers-Dolphins matchup, head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that Garoppolo suffered a broken foot. The injury will require season-ending surgery.

Garoppolo was sacked on the opening drive of the Week 13 49ers-Dolphins matchup, leading to the injury. The 49ers quarterback was originally listed as “questionable” with an injury to his right ankle/foot.

After making his way to the medical tent, Garoppolo was carted to the locker room. 

Garoppolo would later be listed as “out” with a foot injury, ending his afternoon vs. Miami. As it turns out, that would also be the 

Replacing Garoppolo is Brock Purdy, the final selection of the 2022 NFL Draft. Purdy was 4-of-9 passing with 66 yards and an interception entering Sunday’s game.
