Johnson Captures FedexCup At Last

You hate to be this way, but coming into this weekend’s Tour Championship, the PGA Tour’s finale and the finals of the FedexCup Playoffs, there were really only a couple of legitimate contenders. One was last week’s dramatic winner Jon Rahm and the other was the man that started the tournament out in front. That man was Dustin Johnson, and he ended up making no mistakes at East Lake Golf Club to take home a massive cash prize of over $15s million total.

Johnson, the #1 seed coming in, started at -10 and expanded it to -21 by the end of the day on Monday. In the end, he finished three ahead of Xander Schauffele and Justin Thomas and he held off his rival Rahm by four. He had begun the final round with a five-shot lead, but there was realistically little chance of him slipping and losing. He will now, like his colleagues, be setting his sights on the US Open that gets underway on September 17th at Winged Foot in New York.
