The Houston Rockets, through two games at least, just can’t seem to buy a win. They weren’t even close on Monday night, either, as they fell 124-111 to the Denver Nuggets despite James Harden having 34 points. That’s largely because Nikola Jokic was in fine form for the Nuggets, posting yet another triple-double, his 42nd of his career. He had 19 points to go along with 18 assists and 12 rebounds, showing once more why he’s the best big man in the business at what he does.
The Rockets, of course, are down a few players right now, so they will hope they will be better when they get back to full strength. Elsewhere, guard play was what led the Portland Trail Blazers to a win over the defending Finals winners. Damian Lillard shone brightest in the second half, scoring 21 of 31 total for the evening as he led the Blazers to a 115-107 defeat of the Los Angeles Lakers. CJ McCollum played quite well, too, scoring 20 points and adding 11 assists. LeBron James led the way for the Lakers with 29 points as they fell to 2-2 thus far.
