In what can only be described as being one heck of a game taking place on Friday night, the Miami Hurricanes avoided an upset by North Carolina State, and in doing so they remained, albeit tenuously, in the hunt for a national championship. It’s a big if, sure, but they still have the chance if they can pull off an upset in the ACC Championship.
Nevertheless, on this evening, they moved to 6-1 on the season as they won 44-41 thanks in large part to a 13-3 fourth quarter that saw them finish off a strong Wolfpack showing. Quarterback D’Eriq King was downright filthy, throwing for 430 yards and five touchdowns as well as rushing for over 100 yards as well. That’s over 500 yards total offense from the QB. He twice found wide receiver Mike Harley for touchdowns, and he’d have six more catches that added up for over 150 receiving yards. ‘The U’ scored the game’s final 13 points in a row, getting two field goals from Jose Borregales and then getting the touchdown that clinched it with under three minutes remaining as King found Harley for a 54-yarder. Miami will now anxiously wait to see what happens between Notre Dame and Clemson on Saturday.
