Kyle Busch Gets First Win Of 2020 At Texas

Defending Cup Series champion Kyle Busch came into Sunday’s Wednesday night’s completion of the race at Texas Motor Speedway having failed to win a race all season long. Because of that, he was not in contention for the playoffs any longer. That didn’t bother him much, as he would go out and take home a victory on Wednesday evening, saving enough fuel and having enough pace to hold off teammate Martin Truex, Jr. from charging him down.

Busch’s win means he 57 wins in the Cup Series now, but more importantly to him it means he extended his streak of winning a race in each season even further. He’s one at least one since 2005, and it was beginning to look bleak that he’d be able to continue that trend with this race and two others left to go. Rounding out the top five runners were Christopher Bell, Ryan Blaney, and Alex Bowman. As things sit, with one race until the Final 4 at Phoenix to crown a champion, Joey Logano is the only driver locked in. Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin, and Brad Keselowski are in on points, with Bowman, Chase Elliott, Truex, Jr., and Kurt Busch all likely needing a win at Martinsville on Sunday to move. The race at Texas was delayed three days as NASCAR tried to dry a track that was not able to be tamed.
