Lakers Win Finals, LeBron Named MVP

It took a weird route to get there, but in the end it won’t matter all that much to the Los Angeles Lakers. Regardless of having to play in the ‘bubble,’ it’s still an NBA title, as it was confirmed on Sunday night as they defeated the Miami Heat in Game 6 by a score of 106-93. In truth, that score was much closer than what had really taken place throughout the game, with the scene late on resembling more of a party than a contest.

LeBron James, the unquestioned leader of the Lakers, was named Finals MVP following yet another fine showing in the match up. He recorded 28 points, 14 rebounds, and ten assists to lead that franchise to their 17th title. It was his fourth Finals MVP win, putting him second all-time. He’s still two shy of Michael Jordan, though, so he has work to do at the age of 35. Of course, having Anthony Davis is helpful. The soon-to-be free agent had 19 points and 15 rebounds in a strong defensive performance as he bounced back from injury. Meanwhile, Bam Adebayo led the way for the Heat, scoring 25 points while being the only member of the team to get over 12 in an ugly bowout.
