Ramon Laureano certainly knows how to grab headlines. He’s done it in the past with his rocket launcher of an arm, and now he’s done it for sparking a brawl on Sunday as the Oakland Athletics grabbed a ninth consecutive win.
Of course, the other team involved in the controversy were the Houston Astros, who had been tattled on by current A’s pitcher Mike Fiers. As a result of that, perhaps, they hit five A’s batters (three of those times was Laureno himself) over the course of the series. Laureano had had enough of that when he was plunked, going after a coach before the wildness ensued. He was tossed, and he’ll be suspended for a while, you have to think. The A’s won 7-2 on the day, moving five games up already in the AL West.
