It well and truly looks like we know the match up for this year’s edition of the NBA Finals now. While the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers, who won on Thursday night, each have one more game to win, but are in an enviable 3-1 spot going into Game 5. The Lakers got there on Thursday against the Denver Nuggets thanks in large part to their two stars.
LeBron James (26) and Anthony Davis (34) combined for 60 points, and on top of that their defense was much better against a certain Jamal Murray (who still had 32 points) when it counted the most. No other Laker managed to score more than 13 in the 114-108 win, once again underlining the vital importance of both Davis and James to the cause. Nikola Jokic had a very quiet night for the Nuggets, scoring just 16 points. He also was nowhere near a double-double, which is far from usual for him. The one concern that the Lakers might have is that the Nuggets have twice come back from a 3-1 hole in these playoffs to win a series, so the Lakers will know all too well not to count their chickens just yet.
