LeBron, LaMelo Shine In Lakers, Hornets Wins
There is no doubt a ton of potential in LaMelo Ball. For all the posturing done by his father, he’s shown an ability to one day be one of the best players in the NBA. He showed that, much like LeBron James does virtually every single night, on Monday evening. LaMelo led the Charlotte Hornets to a comfortable 119-94 win over the Houston Rockets by scoring 24 points and dishing out ten assists. A ridiculous fourth quarter run for the Hornets (29-7) created much of the distance between them. The Rockets made just two field goals in the entire final period, underlining their offensive futility.
Victor Oladipo had led them with 21 points. As for Ball, he made seven three-pointers, many of which came from well beyond the arc, to further show how much of a game-changer he can be for the now 12-13 Hornets. Elsewhere, the aforementioned James was leading his team to a win. The LA Lakers topped the Oklahoma City Thunder in overtime in large part due to his triple-double that included 28 points, 14 rebounds, and 12 assists. To force the extra period, they did have to rally, working their way back from an 11-point hole in the fourth quarter. The win gives the defending champions a 19-6 overall record as well thanks to a fifth consecutive victory (and a second straight in OT). The Thunder, who fell to 10-13, got a near triple-double from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the defeat. The Lakers did it without Anthony Davis, who was out nursing an Achilles issue.
