The Los Angeles Lakers have done what no team before them could manage to do in this season’s edition of the NBA Playoffs: put away the Denver Nuggets. They did that on Saturday night in Game 5 as they advanced to the NBA Finals thanks to a tremendous triple-double showing from LeBron James.
Their 117-107 win came in large part due to his 38 points, 16 rebounds, and ten assists, meaning he will be making a tenth Finals appearance in his career. The win also was, no doubt, aided by the fact that Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic had finally ran out of steam, with unheralded Jerami Grant leading all Nuggets with 20 points on the evening. The Lakers will now sit back and relax until the winner of the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics series has been determined. Miami currently have a 3-2 edge after five games.
