Lightning Even Stanley Cup Finals At One Apiece

The Tampa Bay Lightning knew that Monday night’s game against the Dallas Stars wasn’t technically a ‘must-have,’ but they knew all too well that they really needed to refrain from going two games down. They made sure not to let that happen as they defeated their opponents 3-2 in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals. For a change, they got the opening goal, via Brayden Point on a power play, and they made it count.

Ondrej Palat and Kevin Shattenkirk added to it in quick fashion, with all three goals going in within a four-minute span to give them a commanding 3-0 lead after one period. The Stars got goals in each of the following two periods- one from Joe Pavelski on a power play and one from Matthias Janmark in the third- but it was too little too late for them as they had dug too big of a hole for themselves. Victor Hedman and Nikita Kucherov both finished with a pair of assists on the evening for the Lightning, helping them remain very much in with a chance at capturing the Cup.
