Lightning vs. Avalanche odds, betting trends: Expert picks, best bets for Game 2 of Stanley Cup Final

Game 2 of the 2022 NHL Stanley Final is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on Saturday at Ball Arena between the Lightning and Avalanche. Before placing any wagers for tonight’s game, we’ll give you all the betting insight you need to know, including the latest odds, trends, and predictions.

Colorado is three wins away from winning their first Stanley Cup since the 2000-01 season after defeating Tampa Bay 4-3 in overtime in Game 1 on Wednesday. The Avs jumped out to a quick 3-1 lead in the first period with goals from Gabriel Landeskog, Valeri Nichushkin, and Artturi Lehkonen. However, the Lightning showcased their championship DNA and tied it up with a series of goals in the second period. Nevertheless, Colorado held on and are 4-0 in Game 1s this postseason. Tampa Bay is not worried about being in this spot as they’ve lost three out of their last four Game 1s in the playoffs.

The Avalanche are in a great spot after taking care of business in Game 1 on Wednesday night. The teams who have won Game 1 in the Stanley Cup Final have an all-time series record of 62-20 since the Final moved to a best-of-seven series in 1939, according to ESPN Stats and Info. However, the Lightning can easily tie up the series as they are 2-1 in Game 2s in this year’s playoffs.

Lightning vs. Avalanche Game 2: Expert betting picks

Against the spread

Avalanche -1.5. The Avs entered the Stanley Cup Final as one of the highest-scoring teams in the postseason, averaging 4.64 goals per game. They scored four goals in Game 1, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them put up that many on Saturday night. However, if you are taking this bet, it’s only because of the plus money. It’s a better value than the -210 on the puck line for the Lightning. Before Game 1, the Avs won their past four games by 2.25 goals per game.

UNDER 6 goals. We saw a lot of goals scored in Game 1, which could be a sign of things to come. However, if the Lightning want to win Game 2, they’ll need to lean on their defense and goaltending, which was better in the last two periods. Tampa Bay goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy has been incredible in Game 2s this postseason with a 2-1 record and averaging 2.33 goals per game. The under is 5-1 in the Lightning’s past six games, which is a testament to Vasilevskiy’s skills in between the pipes. The Avs will get their shots off and score a couple of goals, but the best play is the UNDER with the 2020 Vezina Trophy winner in the net.

Nikita Kucherov OVER 3.5 shots (+140). Kucherov started the Stanley Cup Final on a good note, scoring a goal in the 4-3 overtime defeat in Game 1. Tampa Bay will need the veteran right-winger to be aggressive and apply pressure to Colorado goaltender Darcy Kuemper.

Kucherov has only gone over 3.5 shots in two out of his past five games and is averaging three shots per game. There will be attention on Steven Stamkos and Victor Hedman when they are on the ice, so the 28-year-old Kucherov has to look to score.
