It has become increasingly more common for the stars of the NBA to put up big numbers in the past few years. That certainly took place on Wednesday night as a few players made big statements in helping lead their respective teams to victories. Damian Lillard is a good place to start, as he was able to take the Portland Trail Blazers past the challenge of Zion Williamson (who had 36 points himself) and the New Orleans Pelicans by scoring 43 points and also chipping in with 16 assists in a 126-124 result. Lillard’s late three-point play with 16.5 seconds put them up for good as well. Elsewhere, Rudy Gobert was doing what he so often does.

He doesn’t always score a boat load of points, but he does a little bit of everything. That’s what he pulled off against the LA Clippers in the Utah Jazz’s 114-96 win. The center had 23 points to go along with 20 monstrous rebounds, all the while getting 24 points from Donovan Mitchell as well, to continue a dominant run of games and help the team improve to 24-5 on the season. That’s nine consecutive wins now and it means they have won 20 of their last 21. And finally we had another fine showing in the league as Domantas Sabonis led the Indiana Pacers to a 134-128 OT win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Sabonis collected a triple-double, providing 36 points as well 17 rebounds and ten assists. Malcolm Brogdon also had a fine evening, scoring 32 points and grabbing nine rebounds in an almost double-double performance.
