Liverpool Premier League fixtures: Full schedule, dates, times, predictions for the 2022/23 EPL season

Little more than two months after ending their 2021/22 campaign with the Champions League final, Liverpool will return to Premier League action in the start of their 38-game top-flight season.

The Reds were in the title race until the final day of last season, missing out to champions Manchester City by a point despite beating Wolves at Anfield in their closing fixture.

Liverpool had an outstanding season, losing only two league games – fewer than any other team – as they pursued a quadruple, settling for the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

Will Jurgen Klopp’s side be engaged in another title battle? Can they out-perform City this time, or will other sides come into the reckoning at the top of the table? Here’s the schedule they’ll face.

Liverpool Premier League fixtures 2022/23

Liverpool’s 2022/23 fixtures will be released on Thursday, June 16 at 9 a.m. BST (4 a.m. ET). In addition to the near month-long break for the FIFA World Cup (Nov. 14-Dec. 18), there will be two FIFA international breaks: Sept. 19-27, 2022 and March 20-28, 2023.

According to a report in The Times, a total of 16 Premier League matchdays will be played before the FIFA World Cup break, and the remaining 22 following the World Cup.

In order to squeeze in 16 Premier League matchdays before the World Cup, there will need to be two midweek slates. A midweek in August (Aug. 31 would make most sense to avoid early season fixture congestion and potential injuries) and another on Oct. 19 are the available slots.

Two midweek dates post-World Cup will also be required given the two weekends dedicated to the FA Cup in January. If the Premier League maintains its three-matchday tradition around the holidays, then Jan. 4 could be one option. The other most likely slot would be either Feb. 8 or May 3 given other competitions and the late March FIFA break. Last season the Premier League played the February midweek, leaving May open for rescheduled matches.

The Sporting News will bring you all the fixtures below as soon as they are released on Thursday, June 16 at 9 a.m. BST (4 a.m. ET).

Liverpool in the Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup

Liverpool were formidable in the 2021/22 Champions League, only falling at the final hurdle when they were beaten 1-0 by Real Madrid in the final at the Stade de France — and they will no doubt be considered contenders again in 2022/23.

After beating Chelsea in the final of both competitions last season, Liverpool join the Carabao Cup in November and the FA Cup in January in 2022/23.

Liverpool Premier League projection & odds

As you might expect, only City are priced shorter than Liverpool to win the 2022/23 Premier League title.

That means there are decent rewards on offer for punters who believe Liverpool will win the title for the first time since the 2019/20 season.

Liverpool best & worst Premier League finish

Liverpool have become serial contenders since Klopp guided the club to the 2018/19 Champions League title.

That emphatic Premier League triumph in 2019/20 ended a 30-year wait for the top-flight title at Anfield, and only City’s domination has denied them repeating that glory at least once since then.

Liverpool’s worst finishes in the Premier League came when they finished eighth in 1993/94 and during Klopp’s first season in charge in 2015/16, as well as in 2011/12, when their points tally of 52 was their lowest since 1954.
