It’s easy to make hyperbolic statements in the world of sports. But Monday Night Football’s offering this week was one that was one of the most highly-anticipated we had ever seen before. Two electric quarterbacks that continue to try and stamp their authority over the AFC met as Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs faced off with Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens. And once again, it was Mahomes that had his way.
The defending Super Bowl champions got five touchdowns (4 tosses and a single run) from their star man under center in a 34-20 win that took them to 3-0 on the campaign thus far. Jackson, who still had almost 200 yards on all front, paled in comparison to Mahomes’ 385 yards through the air, throwing for just 97 of them. He would later declare that the Chiefs are their ‘kryptonite,’ and it’s extremely difficult to debate that fact as he is 0-3 against the Chiefs throughout his career. Tight end Travis Kelce, a big favorite of Mahomes, finished the game with six grabs and 87 yards. The Ravens fell to 2-1 thanks to the defeat.
