Manchester United Premier League fixtures: Full schedule, dates, times, predictions for the 2022/23 EPL season

With new manager Erik ten Hag prompting hopes of a return to the upper reaches of the table, Manchester United will be targeting an end to their trophy drought during the 2022/23 Premier League season.

Once regular winners of the title, United had a dismal campaign by their standards last term, dispensing with the services of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November.

German coaching oracle Ralf Rangnick was installed as interim boss but was unable to revive the fortunes of a squad routinely accused of failing supporters with their performances and attitude.

Can Ten Hag change the mood at Old Trafford? When will United take part in the Europa League and domestic cup competitions? Here’s what you need to know.

Manchester United Premier League fixtures 2022/23

Manchester United’s 2022/23 fixtures will be released on Thursday, June 16 at 9 a.m. BST (4 a.m. ET). In addition to the near month-long break for the FIFA World Cup (Nov. 14-Dec. 18), there will be two FIFA international breaks: Sept. 19-27, 2022 and March 20-28, 2023.

According to a report in The Times, a total of 16 Premier League matchdays will be played before the FIFA World Cup break, and the remaining 22 following the World Cup.

In order to squeeze in 16 Premier League matchdays before the World Cup, there will need to be two midweek slates. A midweek in August (Aug. 31 would make most sense to avoid early season fixture congestion and potential injuries) and another on Oct. 19 are the available slots.

Two midweek dates post-World Cup will also be required given the two weekends dedicated to the FA Cup in January. If the Premier League maintains its three-matchday tradition around the holidays, then Jan. 4 could be one option. The other most likely slot would be either Feb. 8 or May 3 given other competitions and the late March FIFA break. Last season the Premier League played the February midweek, leaving May open for rescheduled matches.

The Sporting News will bring you all the fixtures below as soon as they are released on Thursday, June 16 at 9 a.m. BST (4 a.m. ET).

Manchester United in the Europa League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup

Having reached the knockout stage of the Champions League last season, former Europa League winners United return to Europe’s secondary competition in 2022/23.

After wretched early exits in both domestic cups last season, United will want better showings when they join the Carabao Cup in November and the FA Cup in January in 2022/23.

Manchester United Premier League projection & odds

Reigning champions Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham are the only teams priced shorter than Manchester United to win the 2022/23 Premier League title.

A return to the top four would represent a success for Ten Hag after United only confirmed sixth place on the final day of the 2022/23 season.

Manchester United best & worst Premier League finish

United have rarely genuinely threatened to win the Premier League since their last title, which came during legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season in charge in 2012/13.

Had United not beaten West Ham to sixth place in 2021/22, it would have equalled their worst ever finish in the Premier League — although they still ended up with their lowest points tally (58) in the Premier League era.

Their lowest finish in the league table since 1992 came in 2013/14, when current Hammers manager David Moyes oversaw a seventh-placed finish for a United side who struggled to adjust to Ferguson’s departure.
