The Miami Marlins have long been the laughing stock of Major League Baseball. They have won two World Series titles, yet they are a team that always seem to be in rebuilding mode. Friday saw them move to 7-1 on the season, a season that has been rather… unique… to say the least. Remember, they had a number of games postponed due to an outbreak running wild within their camp.
But they have made the most of it, with the team somehow using it to harness a run of play few saw coming. They are on top of the NL East right now, and that is not something anyone would have seen coming, even in a pandemic-affected season. Their 4-3 win over the Mets on Friday night was eventful, and it saw them use an eighth starting pitcher in eight games. But at the end of the day, they won. And that’s all that seems to matter. Apart from health, of course.
