The ‘bottom feeders’ as many have referred to the Miami Marlins are headed to the National League Division Series. Yes, you read that correctly. Even in a season that is shortened, no one had expected to hear that, but they accomplished it on Friday as they swept the Chicago Cubs in a best-of-three series at Wrigley Field.
Sixto Sanchez, first and foremost, was fantastic on the mound, producing five scoreless innings. The bullpen would pick up from there, and they would use a solo home run by Garrett Cooper off of Yu Darvish and a single from Magneuris Sierra to go up 2-0. They ended up winning by that score as they kept up a tradition of ruining the day of Cubbies fans the world over. It was their first playoff series win in 17 years, and it means they will take on the Atlanta Braves in the NLDS next week.
