After a captivating summer in which free agency and trades kept most of the sports world’s focus upon the NBA, the league has kept people talking about it after releasing part of its schedule for 2018-19’s regular season on Wednesday. Much like the NFL, the NBA is keeping its fans excited throughout the year, and some of the games that are included in the slate will no doubt drive fans toward the arenas.

To start with, the opening day of the season will see the Boston Celtics play against the Philadelphia 76ers. Both teams are expected to be fighting for the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference, and each will feel it is their time to shine after LeBron James took his talents to the West Coast. Speaking of LeBron, he will have a date with the defending champions on the most marquee of days: Christmas.

The Christmas slate of games is always one that gets fans excited, and this year’s should look no different, with the rundown headlined by LeBron and the Lakers taking on the Warriors in Splash City. Another game that will excite fans a lot to be held while they open up their presents will be contested between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets. That game will be Carmelo Anthony’s new team taking on one of his old teams.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, another big holiday for the NBA, will see the return match between the Warriors and the Lakers, with the Lakers hosting on that day in a triple header on TNT. The Rockets will also travel to Philadelphia on that day, a match up that could have an outside shot of occurring in the NBA Finals later down the line. For now, that is just about all we know. The rest of the schedule will come out on Friday, but the games that everyone was curious about the most at this stage are known. Now it will just come down to seeing how many games superstars will miss due to wear and tear, travel, and age due to a potentially tough schedule.
